What Is a Combustion Analyzer?

A combustion analyzer is a gas analysis system that measures the gas species created during combustion, including CH4, NOx, SOx, CxHy, and THC, so research and development teams can evaluate engine and turbine performance. CIC Photonics developed the Integrated Real-Time Gas Analysis Solution (IRGAS) to support this work. The IRGAS combustion analyzer is an FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) system that pairs multi-point sampling with pressure and temperature measurement to calculate thermodynamic efficiency in real time.

It combines those gas readings with pressure and temperature data to produce diesel engine performance calculations, with all results shown in a single composite display through the Specialty Gas Analysis Control Software System (SPGAS).
